This issue has also been driving me insane, especially since there is so much
inconsistency with the FLM and so much inconsistency with it working for some
people and not for others. I do think I have resolved it, at least for the
problems we have been having in our office. Here is what I did.
Before linking in a .dwg you have to create a preset. In that preset, on the
advanced tab, make sure the last two boxes are checked. Also, in the drop down
that says 'Derive AutoCAD Primatives by:' change it to 'Layer, Blocks as Node
Hierarchy.' [If you are curious about what these setting mean, take a look in
the help menu and it lists exactly what each setting does.] Finally, in the
main FLM window, attach the file and right below it choose the preset you just
created.
Anyways, this seems to be a pretty common problem and I was not able to find an
exact answer anywhere, so hopefully this helps you and whomever happens upon
this with the same problem.
