Create 1 cylinder and position it correctly. Select Rotate, select
"Pick" from the coordinate dropdown and pick the sphere, select
"use
transform coordinate centre" from the transform centre flyout. If you
now rotate the cylinder it will "slide" over the surface of the
sphere.
If you follow the above /before/ using the Array tool then all should
work as you expect.
