Problems setting up Backburner over a VPN
Wed, 28 Jun 2006 19:38:06 PDT
Hi all,

I have managed to set up a VPN to get backburner running over the internet
but I keep getting the following error message in the server log:

error receiving information: an existing connection was forcibly closed by
the remote host

Also initially I was getting the following error from the manager but it
doesn't seem to be coming up any more:

Connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly
respond after a period of time or the connection failed because connected host
has failed to respond.

Could anyone provide any insight into this error and how I could fix it? All
antivirus/firewall software is off (for troubleshooting purposes) and the
ports 3233 and 3234 are forwarded to the manager's IP address.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

OK found out why it wasn't working - was still trying to connect to the
internet IP of the manager computer rather than the VPN IP.

On a related note, why can't the server connect to the Internet IP of the
manager? I have opened the ports so the manager should be seeing the internet
- is there something I need to do in windows to enable this? I think I
want to set up more than one server over the internet so the VPN isn't going
to hold up when that happens...

Cheers,
Brad
