I've several users running Max 8. I've installed Backburner 3.0 on several
additional machines and have managed to get network rendering to work.
However, occasionally, I get errors on the backburner server boxes, errors
which I'm fairly sure are associated with materials libraies that are not
residing on or accessible by a backburner server.
Would anyone be able to point me to a white paper/instruction sheet which I
could use/distribute to my Max users to help them with setting up their
workstations to ensure that external files, material libraries and the such
are found on mapped server drives
- eg. Set Preferences - File Tab - Disable "Convert file paths to
UNC".
- Recommended User and System Paths that should point to a resource that
resides on the network server
- Recommended folder structure for max files residing on a server
I'd also like to know how much of a performance hit is experienced when
sending a job for rendering by NetRender with the "Include Maps"
option set
to "On". On a 100/1000 network, would it really slow down rendering if
this
option were used?
I look forward to your response.
