task timeout (600 minutes) again.....

hello,

after upgrading to backburner 3, it appears that the rendermanager is
overruling the per-job-timeout-settings from a submitted renderjob.

-I already modified the backburner.xml file on both workstation and dedicated
rendermanager system to: (this worked fine in previous backburner shipped
with max6)

 UseTimeouts>Yes
 MaxLoad>20
 MaxUnload>10
 MaxRender>1200

-after submitting a job and then checking "job settings" in the queue
monitor
it correctly states :

timeouts

wait to load:20
wait to unload:10
wait to render:1200

BUT when rendering this very job, the rendering is aborted after 10 hours
(600 min) with the following task error: task timeout (600 minutes) !!!!!

Submitting a job with the "per job timeouts" enabled and "wait to
render" set
to 3 minutes (job settings in queue monitor now also state wait to render
3 minutes) now correctly results in a task timeout (3 minutes)

how is this possible ?????

-system where rendermanager is running has a full 3dsmax install (it also
acts as a rendernode)

software: 3dsmax 8 SP3, backburner 3.0

as you can imagine there are plenty of renderjobs that require more then 10
hours to render, which now is impossible !

is there a way to bypass this 600 min timeout overrule, and raise this
default timeout to another value ?

it driving me crazy.....

After you made the changes, try stopping Manager and Server and restart
Manager and Server. Other than that, search this conference, I'm pretty sure
Yann had previously mentioned some possible solutions... search for Task
Timeout or 600.

Hi Maneswar,

I already did a search on the keywords you mentioned before posting.
the solution to the problem according to Fred Taghavi should be:

"Install 3ds Max on the manager machine. Once you do this, then Manager
will take your 5760 min setting.

Fred Taghavi
Autodesk | Media & Entertainment Support"

my manager-machine already has a 3dsmax install since it also is operating as
a rendernode (yes, this is a very fast machine)

So I guess it is impossible to bypass the 600 minute netrender timeout on one
of the worlds leading 3D software ?????

Hi,

I have the same problem. 10 hours is simply not enough. Can someone please
confirm whether or not it is true that the timeout cannot be set to more
than 10 hours with max8, BB3, SP 3?

Regards,
