Well I "think" I understood what you said but maybe I am mistaken. Is

Its kinda like that.  Think of it like this...you have a tree trunk(as you 
emitter)...then a big branch(first set of particles) that you want to emit 
from the trunk....then in the next event you want a smaller branch to emit 
from the previous big branch and so on.....

Sounds like L-Systems to me.  Honestly, I don't think this is the best thing 
for particles.  Instead, I would script something that just copies and 
transforms the geo into place via some kind of loop.

L-System was essentially what i was thinking....wanted to see if it was 
possible.  Its seems to me that the logic is similar to a pflow setup but the 
implimentation i guess isn't practical.  Maybe i'll pursue the scripting 
route....i just finished reading that the Proboolean and cutter tools are 
exposed to maxscript in MAX 9.
