Poser 7 ships at only a fraction the cost of Max plus it bundles with Vue at the
same price. I found it a great help to me with learning animating.
Afterburn, Vray and Brazil ray were the plugins recommended to me when I started
and I only wanted to animate, however they have their own good points and were
quite worth while. So I went onward and did some more research and, bumper crop!
There’s so much available.

However Don’s Point is still noteworthy whereby if modeling is to be your gig
then you need not look particularly at poser.

Also depending on if you are to model caricature, objects or scenes. “Modeling
isn’t really my area” but for that modeler in all of us, I recommend you
feed the flame with zbrush 3 from Pixologic, which I’m much more familiar
with. It isn’t a plugin but worth the time. “Plus again it’s only a
fraction the price of max”

P.S "There can be only one!!"

P.S.s Don!! Your a pretty knowledgeable fellow, what’s the deal with Toxic. A
buddy of mine has a copy and wants to install it on a standalone PC with a
broadband link not a network, to test run it before unleashing it on a private
networked renderfarm. But so far without much luck on the install process. Is he
barking up the wrong tree?
