i did solve my problem apparently....vista has been doing strange things; it's
like it's got this creepy cybernetic brain pushing switches at random that it
considers related to "security issues" = "everything else in the
universe"
anyway: here's mine for all (sorry for the delay in reposting)
1. I also uninstalled every max component that vista let me have easy access to:
standard remove programs and delete some files left behind.
2. I think what REALLY mattered was getting off the net, turning off my virus
protection, TURN OFF VISTA's UAC (user account control)!!!!, right click on the
64 bit (I didn't install 32) and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
At any rate, that's all I had to do to get max 64 to load - cool!
