Thanks for all the replies. To answer your questions, there are no lights,
shadow-mapped or otherwise, in the scene, the opacity of the particle (i think
this is what you meant by the alpha channel) is created with a mask map with a
gradient and a particle age map.
I would separate the alpha, but the same problem is with the alpha channel - it
doesn't register the opacity map at all.
How do you turn off premultiplied alpha in the map channels? I can't find it in
the mat editor.
I appreciate your help guys, I really want to fix this. I can post more pictures
of things if it helps.
