I meant to reply to this but got sidetracked with my biped script project.
Anyway, the first thing is to get definitions right. Curly hair is actually
more akin to what we would have called an afro back in the day. The kink and
frizz parameters handle this nicely. Wavy hair (like someone with waves or a
perm) and "distinct" curls (like Shirley Temple as a child) are
different from this, although you can obviously combine either of them with kink
and frizz.
There are two basic ways to get these waves and/or individual curls.
First you can use a regular mesh object and grow hair as usual and then use
splines and then recomb along the splines. This isn't necessarily for
curliness; it's great for styling hair in any situation. But for curls or waves
just create a lot of curly splines (you can even use helixes) and arrange as
needed and adjust the other params as required. Shirley Temple curls will
require some clumping params to look right.
The other approach is to grow hair between splines themselves. This is more
work, but you have absolute control and it's easy to get the curls and wa |
