Hidden Elements or Faces

I'd like to see in the Object's Property dialog box an indicator telling me that
faces, polygons or elements are hidden.  I had a recent issue where I could not
see why something was rendering when it was not displayed.  At least when I go
to that object's properties I could see at a glance what was going on with it!
