Can you make a web application project with the express editions? I have been
trying for over a week now and the only 3 types of solutions I can choose from
in visual studio is a blank solution, report server project wizard, and report
server project. All I want to do is build a website in visual studio instead of
visual web developer. Please help.

Visual Studio 2005 Web Application Projects are not supported in Visual Web
Developer Express Edition.

You should be able to do this, what version of Visual Studio do you have? Maybe
when you installed it you set the start up options to be geared towards win
forms development.

In add remove programs is says "Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier
Partner Edition - ENU". I have not purchased Visual Studio, it is the
version that installs with SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

"The Premier Partner Edition (PPE) provides a version of Visual Studio that
includes the Visual Studio IDE, the debugger, and source code control
integration. No programming languages are included. Although PPE does not
include programming languages, PPE does provide a framework that lets you add
programming languages. " -

"Evidently the "Partner Edition" is a minimalist, shell install
of Visual Studio 2005 with only the core Team System Functionality.......This
Visual Studio 2005 install is only intended as a management tool for your Team
Foundation Server." -

Looks like you will have to buy the standard version of Visual Studio to create
a web application, otherwise use the free express edition to create a web
site.

Thank you for your help. I was pretty sure that was the case, I just wanted to
make sure. I will purchase the 2008 version, unless anyone suggests
otherwise?
