You can enter full screen mode with the click of a mouse, but try to get back
with your mouse. I don't see any button to get back in Vista.
If you don't know that Ctrl L will get you back, you will have to end the
program with task manager. It's the only other way that I know of.

Or, if you want to end a program, Alt+F4 in the usual way.
