Gradient fill in AE7

Create a solid, apply a Ramp effect. Create the text on top of it. Assign the
text as an Alpha matte for the solid. For more color steps in the gradient,
apply a Colorama effect after the Ramp.

You can also apply the Ramp effect directly to a text layer.
