Images have moire pattern

When scanning pages, the text is coming out nice and crisp but images have a
nasty moire. Is there a way to automate the dscreening process within Acrobat to
address this? Will Acrobat 8 be the solution?

Your setting is probably Formatted Text and Graphics. Characters recognized as
text are portrayed by the font character. Other sections of the image are
bitmapped.
