| Encore CS3 crash on Build |

I am trying to create a DVD and constantly get the " Encore needs to close
" crash screen. I have disabled all other programs thru MSCONFIG on XP.
Encore is up to date. The project is on an external HD (7200 RPM).
2 GB of RAM Pent 4 3.2 GHZ. I have created one other DVD in Enocore about 6
months ago so I do not know what has changed or what else to do.

I recommend trashing the project cache manually. Build errors are often
triggered by outdated transcodes or defective references in the cache. Obviously
the actual build of the disc will take longer as the cache will be created from
scratch and any transcodes need to be done again, but it might be worth a try.
Also make sure to build the disc to a folder first and not burn it in the first
run. This often helps to overcome any initialization problems with your burner
and/or twitchy media.

That's good advice IMHO.
One thing to add - I assume this error is happening as soon as you hit the
"build" button?

Paulohara,
How is the external HDD connected, USB, FireWire 400/800 LAN 10/100/1000? While
I have not had a problem with Encore, when using externals in PP, I have found a
big slowdown, especially with my Gigabit LAN 2TB HDD. I always move my Assets to
an internal HDD, prior to editing, burning.
