A - properly DVD-Video compliant, and
B - not too large to fit into your project as it stands

Why are you so pre-occupied with de-interlacing?

I can think of several reasons, but none of them make sense:

1. You want to lose vertical resolution.
2. You want compatibility problems with set-top players.
3. You want a convoluted work flow.
4. You want to create stroboscopic effects or jittery images.

      I know adobes encoding is weak




What makes you say this? The MainConcept engine is a very good one and no
encoding can be any better than the source material.

      I'm really just trying to use a better deinterlacer then encore's check
      this box method for de-interlacing,
