| Encore assigned DVD Burner does not recognize proper media |

I would Build/complete DVD project on new Dell XPS 630i with intent on burning a
DVD using my DVD+-RW (TS-H653B/DEWH). Encore does not recognize this drive as
the primary drive and must be selected as the alternate. Encore sees the primary
drive as a DVD-RW when in fact it is a CD-ROM. The Windows settings for the
drives are correct (XP Pro).
When prompted to load blank media to begin recording/burn tray reads the media
for a few seconds before rejecting the media - prompting me to place a
recordable media as if it does not see the media as a DVD-R (Sony brand) others
were tried as well. Dell installed "Roxio" software was suspected as
the "culprit" but tests conducted with both Adobe and Dell Tech
support failed to provide proof that it was the cause.
All CD & DVD-RW drivers are current and properly set to function.
Encore CS2 works fine. Encore CS3 does not. If activated, i am also able to use
Roxio's drag & drop feature using the same drive that Encore is having
problems.
I have tried installing Productions Premium CS3 as a stand alone, and CS2 and
CS3 on the same machine that is a dedicated editing CPU (Dell XPS 630)
Encore CS3 will not burn to this drive but is able to record an
"image" and DVD "folder" onto the desktop.

Roxio MAY be your problem

Aside from Roxio, which is most likely PART of the problem, check to see if
there is a Master/Slave problem with your two drives. Their order and setting
can also mess up Encore, as to what the primary drive should be.
Remember, that "drag-n-drop" appelet is going to be querying your DVD
and CD-ROM drive constantly. I have Roxio on one machine, but without the InCD
(I think that is Roxio's packet-writing software and not Nero's). Though I do a
End-All for all unnecessary processes, I do not believe that InCD (if I had it
installed) would be affected by this action. Stay far away from any
packet-writing software, as they will only cause grief.
