ENCORE crashes just before it starts a 'build'

ENCORE crashes just before it starts a 'build'

Arrrrhhhhggg! I just started learning encore and had no issues burNing my first
'test' dvds that consisted of a 20 minute featurette and a 3 minute trailer.

I went back in to juice up the menu with chapter buttons and a few extra 5
minutes of behind the scenes footage.

No motion menus or anything fancy like that.

Now when I try to 'build' the dvd, encore CRASHES before the 'progress' screen
comes on.

I've tried this 6 times and it crashes each time. I run AE, PS, and a ton of
other animation software on this computer and have never had crash problems.

I"m running encore cs3 on a windows xp with plenty of ram and storage.

Before I start the build I see that my project is 4.7 gigs with available 3.0gig
on the dvd. I"ve tried to 'resize to fit automatically' feature but encore
still crashes each time before it actually starts the build.

What version of Encore, please?

When you say that it "crashes," just as you hit the Build DVD button,
what happens? Any error messages? Does Encore just go away, or do you get a
BSOD. Does the OS lock up, does Encore lock up? What other processes are running
(Task Manager can tell you)? What OS?

Next some rough system specs. might help. I'm not talking about chipsets, etc.,
but some idea of the system, especially the processor(s), RAM and HDD
configuration. Any other CD/DVD burning software installed - InCD, by chance?

Last, a little more on the Project might help. Something like: "4 min. Play
First intro -> Main Menu w/ PlayAll (Playlist), To Selection Menu ->
Selection Menu, 4 chapter Buttons (all Playlists) -> back to Main Menu."
"No Overrides set. No Animated Buttons or Motion Menu." Stuff like
that, especially "No Overrides set."

Once you've helped us with the details, someone might be able to see the
problem, or at least give an educated guess, with fixes, or workarounds.

Also, you say that you burned an earlier version of this DVD with no issues.
What has changed with the system, the OS, or any additional programs added -
updates, anything?

Just adding Chapter Buttons and a few Assets should not have caused a crash.
Something else is going on, but what?

Lot of questions, but their answers will really help sort this out.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Running build 3.0.1.008 on a x64 Vista Ultimate DELL
Precision 690 with Dual Quad core processors, 16GB RAM.

I am trying to build a single menu, 5 button simple project with 5 chapters
imported as AVI files.

Click build, and Encore crashes immediately.

I have not burned this project previously, however, I have burned other projects
previous to this one.

I uninstalled Encore, reinstalled, then updated to the current 3.0.1.008 build.
I have removed my USB thumb drive per other forum suggestions.

I am at a loss.

Is there a newer build available perhaps?

You guys are awesome. Thanks for your help.
To answer those questions, I'm running Encore CS3 straight out of the production
studio box. My system is running windows XP I have a dual core pentium 3 2gig
ram.

On the first tests I had MENU WITH TWO BUTTONS/ 1 BUTTON LEAD TO THE TRAILER,
THE OTHER LEAD TO THE FEATURETTE. (25 mins of combined video transferred
directly to encore from premiere pro cs3.) That dvd burned just fine.

Then I made these additional changes (with custom static menus created in
photoshop cs3: MENU/FEATURE MENU/SPECIAL FEATURES MENU. - FEATURE MENU has 12
CHAPTERS (each chapter box linked to chapter markers), the SPECIAL FEATURES menu
has 5 deleted scenes (approx 1 min each)and one special fx reel about 2 mins
long.

I get this error about 30 seconds after I hit the build button: "Adobe
encore has encountered a probelm and needs to close. The instruction
"0x1000cacc" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory
could not be "read".

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED =)

      I have a dual core pentium 3...

I hate to bear the bad news, but your system is significantly under-spec. Encore
CS3 requires a Pentium IV processor, at a minimum.
