Error 16072 - Encore 1.5.1.42735

While burning a DVD, I received an Error 16072 "end of file". I
searched this forum (no posts on the subject) and Googled it and the several
remedies that worked for others didn't work for me: uninstall/reinstall, check
the "animate buttons" option with menu audio, and made sure that the
audio wasn't longer than the video in the timeline.

From last to first, I removed all clips and timelines, tried to burn to image
(after ruining a dozen DVDs) and still received the error. I deleted my menus
and made a simple one with one button - no audio - still error.

I decided to start over and removed all traces of the original project - this
time only one clip, one timeline, and one blank menu with one button - still the
error.

I had successfully made a DVD out of most of the clips as a "draft"
version a week ago. I used a clip that I had used before and now get the error.

Sometime in the wee hours of Saturday morning, I got a strange error message
that there was a problem with my registration or license - I can't remember
which, I was up all night working on this project. It shut down both Encore and
Photoshop. I was able to reopen both and work fine. I went to the Adobe website
to my account to look at my registration and the Adobe registration site was
down - still is. I don't know if any of this has anything to do with my 16072
error - but it is the only abnormal thing to happen since I successfully built a
DVD with some of the same clips that give me the error now.

I have 28GB free space on the partition of my project. I have almost 50GB free
space in the partition of my windows temp. I have 2GB RAM (Corsair Dominator
8500 speed) CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo 6600.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Two pieces of advice:

tried to burn to image (after ruining a dozen DVDs)

1. Use RW discs for your initial burn. No more ruined DVDs.

Actually, I did start with a new project with the old one completely deleted
from the directory and still got the error.

I tried this: still using the new project with only one clip and a minimalist
menu, I "built" the DVD into a folder. I then used Nero to burn a
DVD-video using the files created in the folder. Nero gave me a warning that the
files were "non compliant". I burned it anyway and the burn was
successful with warnings.

I placed the DVD in a different drive and it played perfectly.

I still wish I knew why it errors out, though. I will now try to rebuild the
whole video and see if I get the same results.

I was able to clear the error message.

I selected the transcoding method manually and re-transcoded all files the same
format and I was able to create a DVD with no error.

My original had "automatic" transcoding. You would think that Encore
would select a transcoding method that wouldn't cause an error.
