CS3 has stopped adding new projects

I've been successfully been using PP CS3, and other production studio apps for
the past couple of months on my Dell laptop with Vista. I last successfully
created a project a week ago. When I went to begin a new project yesterday
pressing the "new project" button did nothing. When I selected recent
projects listed they would not open. If I went to open project I could then
select and open a project. Once opened, the timeline would create multiple
images if I select a clip and move it. I have uninstalled the software, then
reinstalled and continue to have this problem. I'm not aware of any other
software which has been recently installed and may be causing a conflict. I now
notice that encore cs3 is also having the same issue opening a new project.

You might want to post the specs. of your Dell. Since you are on a laptop, some
additional info, like HDD size and available space especially should be listed -
laptop HDDs can get filled up rather quickly, when doing video editing and DVD
authoring.

Have you attempted double-clicking on one of your Project files in Windows
Explorer (or whatever Vista might call it)? That should open the application,
i.e. Encore, or Premiere and that Project file.

Last, what other processes are running on your laptop, i.e. AV, spyware killers,
etc., and have you tried ending all, that are not necessary? Also, some
pre-built computers often have tons of bloatware installed, that start up and
just sit around taking resources. I use a little program, EndItAll2, to stop all
unnecessary processes. It's freeware, and there are others like it available.

Thank you for taking time to advice. Since I was beginning to have multiple
software-related problems I decided to format my hd and re-install all software.
The cs3 and other adobe programs I have now all are working fine. Just in time
for me to produce a video about rescuingan Amsterdam canal goose.
