DVD Menu issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2008 08:14:12 -080
I am having an issue with the DVD Menu selection. My problem is that if I create
a custom menu, that when I burn the DVD and play it in my player, it skips some
of the selections. I have checked the sequence numbering in the upper right hand
corner, but it is still doing it.

In addition, I have also copied from a working menu and it is still doing it. I
am using pictures as my text and editing the menu in Photoshop.

This is all that I have left to do in order to finish my DVD project.

I am using Encore 2.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Not sure if this is what you mean, but it sounds like a button routing problem.

First enable "Show Button Routing" in the Menu Editor. Then uncheck
"Automatically Route Buttons" in the menu's Properties.

I unchecked the auto route button, but what arrows are you referring to? The
numbering I was talking about is located directly under the button name.

Brianlamaster,

The Button "numbering" is from Photoshop and relates to the Layer
hierarchy of the Buttons in the Layers. You can re-name these Buttons, i.e.
Button 1 (bottom in Layers Palette) to whatever you want it to be, i.e. Page's
Birthday, etc. This eliminates a lot of confusion, especially if one has several
Menus and sub-Menus, all with Button 1 for the names. Hope that this helps.
Also, one could drag the Button Layer Sets around in PS, but that might cause
even more confusion for both the author and for Encore, so I do not think that
I'd do that.

Note: when you re-name the Buttons in PS, and do a Save, make sure that the
changes do Save in Encore. There have been some cases, where the Menu actually
had to be Save(ed) several times, and then give Encore a moment to update. Also,
if you have changed the Text in the Button Layer Set, make sure that you turn
off Auto Sync Button Names in Encore, or your work will be lost. In Encore CS3,
this feature is turned off by default, but in CS2, it's on by default. Can't
tell you the number of times that I have forgotten to turn it off and messed up
the Text below the Button on the Menu. In the Menu Panel in Encore, hit Ctrl-a
(Select All) and then uncheck this box in the lower area of Properties Panel. I
now do this BEFORE I Edit in Photoshop.

The arrows pointing from button to button when you enable "Show Button
Routing" in the Menu Editor.
