Encore Playlist bug

Encore Playlist bug
Thu, 31 May 2007 17:06:23 -070
I have a problem with chapter play lists not obeying the skip chapter button.

I have a main timeline with one long encode that has chapter points along it.
There is a "PLAY ALL" button on the only menu that links to this
timeline.

I then have "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2" ... buttons on the menu
that link to chapter playlists that only have that single chapter in them. The
end action on each playlist returns to the main menu.

The first time I authored this DVD the "Chapter 1" button did nothing
upon pressing the skip chapter button. All the other Chapter buttons did not
return to the menu as I assumed they would but skipped through the chapters of
the main timeline - which was acceptable. The "PLAY ALL" button works
fine.

I tried relinking the "Chapter 1" button, re-inserting the chapter
point, cleared the cache files, and then I re-authored the project from
scratch.

The second author of the project with identical layout, resulted in the
"PLAY ALL" button working fine. But now none of the "Chapter
1", "Chapter 2"... buttons skip anywhere - they simply do nothing
when that button is pressed. The video refuses to advance to the next chapter on
the timeline, or obey the end action on the chapter playlist which is to return
to the main menu.

I have tried it on several DVD players all with the same results. Not
surprisingly the Encore preview works as it should.

So thats two completely different behaviors for two different projects!

Is there any fix for this?

As a side note:
We unfortunately use this software every day at a medium sized post production
facility - it is easily the most buggy of our toolset. I hope Adobe actually
tries to fix this and the many other bugs that plauge this software before the
next release! What a joke of a piece of software!!!

We are currently looking for a robust industrial strength DVD authoring
      software, any suggestions?

The industry standard is Sonic Scenarist, but configs start at about ten grand I
think, and go to about $150,000 for full DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray support.

Is it at all possible that you have inadvertently set up the behavior that you
are seeing?

This almost sounds correct given a couple of assumptions on my part:
1 - Not sure what you mean by the first sentence here, as pressing the Chapter
One button from where "did nothing on pressing the chapter skip
button" - I really cannot understand this, and wonder if you tried what is
a nonsensical command?
2 - "All other chapter buttons did not return to the menu as I
assumed"?
