subtitles out of sync
Tue, 20 Feb 2007 06:59:11 -080
Hi,

I've got a problem. I've got subtitles in a .srt file, and these are perfectly
synchronized. In encore I need a .txt file, so I converted the .srt to a .txt
file. when I open both the files with notepad, the timecodes are correct.
but when i import the subs in encore, they are correct in the beginning, but
later on it can have a difference of 2 seconds or so.

if I drag the red arrow across the timeline, the "timeline" and the
"source" also change, but the "source" shows the right time,
and the "timeline" shows the wrong one with like 2 seconds difference,
just like the subs. (see this link:

can anybody please help me??

regards,

niek

I wonder if the timecode in the txt file is actually correct?
Can you please confirm what format you are using (PAL?) and the format the
timecode is written in?

Niek,

What you posted on "www.helpmij.nl" seems to need a username and
password to see it.

about the link, here is a better one ;) :
<http://www.freewebs.com/fctenschede/encore.JPG>

the timecodes are correct, and this is how it's in the txt file:

1 00:00:05:30 00:00:07:60 Wat voorafging in Prison Break:
2 00:00:07:60 00:00:09:50 Er is iets aan deze vent.
3 00:00:09:50 00:00:11:90 Het is alsof hij weet waar we h....

this is the .srt file:

1
00:00:05,300 --> 00:00:07,600
Wat voorafging in Prison Break:

2
00:00:07,600 --> 00:00:09,500
Er is iets aan deze vent.

3
00:00:09,500 --> 00:00:11,896
Het is alsof hij weet waar we h...

PAL subtitle files must be in this format:

hh:mm:ss:ff

hours, minutes, seconds, frames

It looks like your frames are expressed in milliseconds. They must be converted
to frames.
