My uncle is getting the
Sorry, an abnormal condition has been detected.
Before quitting, you have one chance to save your project
(don't use the same name as the original).
when working with subtitles on one of his timelines. The other timeline's
subtitle work just fine, it is just this one that has issues.
He had the idea of redoing the subtitle track by createing another track so he
could use the same timeing but when he tried to delete one subtitle clip off the
malfunctioning track he received the following error msg.
Internal sotware error:.\AVTree.cpp,line 1533
He can't even delete the subtitle track from the timeline.
This isn't his first project (he has immortalized many of Clackamas High
School's Plays on DVD over the past couple years) but this is the first time
creating actual subtites whereas in the past he just created text on the video
and offered 2 different versions.
MS Windows XP pro 5.1 Build 2600
System model: Sony PCV-RX680G
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2GHz
RAM: 512MB

Encore has a bug that is carrying through all the releases. In general never(!)
enter subtitles manually into Encore. After an undefined number that might
depend on the moon position Encore corrupts the subtitle files. It should have
been fixed in Encore 2, but I doubt it. The only way to work with subtitles in
Encore is to create them externally, e.g. subtitle workshop, and then import
them. I learned that the hard way, too, loosing two weeks of work. Actually if
you call support they tell you not to use manual subtitles.

Too late for me Marcus:
Man oh man, who would have thought this would happen. DONT TRY THIS FOR REAL:
copy a project and folder someplace to start a new one, or even save the project
under a new name. Make sure the project has a subtitle somewhere on a timeline.
Make lots of edit, changes, previews, have a ball. Then try to build the project
for real and you will get this error:
<http://www.extreme-nepal.com/studio/encore_screw_up.png>
The subtitle was turned into an "image" @#@#@%?!#%^ and you can't
delete it or clear it - rendering the project useless. The only thing I can
think of now is to burn it, and go get a macbook pro and use DVD Studio Pro to
get this job done right.
Well, that may be extreme. But I sure could use some help figuring this out,
within the next hour or so. I checked the cache and subtitle directory, and
tryed to clear that, but no luck. (an aside, WHAT WAS ADOBE THINKING NAMING
THINGS .SES, did they forget that's the filetype for Audition!@!!#$@$%).
Okay, I will try to remain calm because I know there are smart zen-like folks
here that probally have the answer to this mess.
