Subtitle not loading

I have an 1 hour long film in French language with English subtitles and have
set the default on disc to subtitle 1. When i load up the disc in my player the
subtitle stream does not come on automatically. Instead i have to use the
subtitle button on my remote control.

It is a bit of a pain as i want the default setting to be English subtitles,
with the choice to turn off.

There are three timelines in the project:

1: Feature with French audio and English subtitle stream
2: Interview in English with no subtitle stream
3: Trailer with no subtitle stream.

As there is only one subtitle stream, i have put on the disc property's to set
subtitle to 1 and hope that this will default to English on the player. Sadly it
does not.

All your timelines have to have the same number of subtitle tracks (even if some
of them would be empty).

Mixed results. It works fine on two players, but not on my third. I would be
happy to say this is down to the player, but it does play other DVD's subtitle
outputs.
