Sorry if this has been discussed, but I was not able to find it through
searching.
I have rendered an animation using Maya with a resolution of 720x486 and a pixel
aspect of 1.2. I then imported this image sequence into after effects, set the
correct pixel aspect for the sequence and the composition and exported a
quicktime movie. My export settings were as follows:
compression type: none
frame rate: 24fps
quality: best
depth: millions of colors.
size: NTSC 720x480 16:9
I then imported this video as an asset into Encore 2.0 and created a timeline.
Created the necessary links and such and previewed the dvd. The menu is
widescreen, but once I click on the button to start my video, it appears to be
in fullscreen with black bars on the left and right side. The video is also
distorted (scan lines and kind of blurry) I built the dvd anyway and tried it on
my tv. It plays just fine and looks perfect but it is NOT widescreen.
I suspect that this is because Encore is not interpreting the 1.2 pixel aspect
ratio. I have read that After effects does not embed the pixel aspect ratio into
exported movies. I tried selecting my video in Encore and going to
file>interpret footage to set the aspect, however this option is grayed out.
I tried exporting an AVI file from after effects and i still could not interpret
the footage in Encore.
I have also read about people exporting mpeg2 files from premiere or even after
effects but I dont seem to have that option..
