Slideshows Have Rough Transitions

Slideshows Have Rough Transitions

This may be the same problem that I have read about other people having but
there has not been too many answers regarding that. So the slideshows look just
fine when I preview them in Encore, however, when I burn them to a DVD the
transitions are not very clean cut. I am only using the dissolve and dip to
black transitions. The dip to black transitions mask the problem I am having and
that is when I use the dissolve effect the picture will snap in with a little
bit more sharpness. Or you could say it has this little jump or bounce into
focus. But it works just fine within Encore. It is quite annoying to me and
aside from using a different program or strictly using the dip to black effect I
don't know how to make it work. Does anyone have any suggestions? And why is
this happening?

My problem maybe slighlty similar to this one:

However, I don't get the faint outline of the next photo, I have tried creating
an image file first and then burning from that and setting to random zoom and
pan didn't help either. Sorry to rehash this but is there any other thoughts or
suggestions regarding this?

Joel,

My guess is that you are looking at limitations of how DVD players handle a mix
of still images (single I-frames used for the slides) and motion video (used for
the transitions). Does it look different when you play the DVD on your
computer?

Thanks for the very quick reply Ruud. I did try the DVD on my computer and 2 DVD
players and the problem is still there. I will mess around with making one in
Premiere. It was just so much easier to whip one together in Encore. I
originally made these slideshows on another program called Memories on TV and
those had smooth transitions and there was no 99 limit on the slides. Any
thoughts as to why that was the case? I then moved onto Encore for the menu
creations and it just happened to have a slideshow feature so I tried it with
that.

My guess is that "Memories on TV" creates a movie out of your slides,
like you would do with Premiere. Which is also why there isn't a 99 slide
limit.
