I am using Encore 2.0 and I would like to create a slide with text (no picture).
Am I able to do this in Encore and if so how?
If this is not possible, what is the best way to achieve this?

Create the stills in Photoshop, or Premiere.

I have seen a couple of postings which say to go to Premiere to create the
slideshow. Can someone go a few more yards to explain how to do this in Premiere
(even the forum topic in Premiere would do)?
I resorted to creating the slideshow in Encore after having no success in
Premiere. I do admit that I have not read through the manuals, but a pointer
please to get me started. TIA.

Pradeep,
You might want to take a look at the Premiere-wiki:
You should find all the details that you need.
