Another possibility is poor reporting of the problem. :)
Are you referring to the brief pause in the transition between each slide?
That's how slideshow works for Flash export, since Encore's Flash export is for
progressive download, and each chapter is its own FLV file.
Pro: The wait for download is minimized, since only a single chapter has to be
downloaded before playback begins
Con: There is a slight pause between chapters
