Hey Guys,
any one had experiance with the Canon HV20?
dont do any real work in editing (aside from family stuff or very short training
videos, Most of which i use camtasia for anyway so no cam needed)
need a new cam for 2 reasons
1) my wifes (the family cam) died, and she took one of my shop cams.
2) we need to ingest at the highest res and formats in order to test platforms.
until now i have just been using stock footage on a dvd for testing of higher
formats.
thanks

Well I do not think that I have seen any HDV camera with more problems posted
than the Canon HV20 in these forums. But no hands on here.

Scott,
Check out this thread...
<http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc46d93/14>
...acording to the HV20 FAQ, the HV20 doesn't record 24p to HDV tape. People are
complaining that Canon is false advertising regarding 24p.
In a nutshell, I guess, the camera can be put in a "shoot mode" where
it "shoots in 24p", but doesn't actually record in a 24p format. I
have no idea what that means :) All I know is I've seen clips that were
supposedly recorded with the 24p setting and they are just standard 1080i HDV.

well if i can capture directly into the computer (which is what we generally do
for validation) i am fine with that.
am a canon dealer and have an email out to them about what i have read on the
forums.
we will see the answer...wondering how much will be fact and the other
waffling.
but thanks for the link.
