We just upgraded our old Asus P4C800 Deluxe Northwood 3.2 system to an Asus
Maximus Formula with an Intel QX6600 + 4GB of Ram. Of course it takes forever to
download all of the XP patches and re-install all of the software but...
Programs install very quickly and Premiere is now more than twice as fast at
rendering and export.

Get rid of the Matrox RT.X100. We had one in all of our 3 systems at one time.
It gave us so much grief. We almost lost accounts because of that Matrox card.
We all hate it and make jokes about it at work. It was a good idea though. No
rendering of prtls, some decent lens flare effects and a few other effects. But
the crashes. Some so bad that prproj files were destroyed. large projects crash
constantly. What a piece of garbage. On the other hand, I miss the convenience
of the breakout cable for analog. Now we have to loop analog through our Sony DV
Cam deck. Very annoying. You would think that someone would come up with a
stable alternative. I would settle for a simple PCI-E card that didn't offer any
effects, but just allowed one to capture high quality analog as DV.
