Can't record multicam edits

I've done multicam edits several times but can't get it to work properly now. I
put three cameras on a timeline in sequence 1 and sync them up.
I then created a NEW sequence, called it MULTIcam and imported Sequence 1.
I right click on the single clip that I imported into the Multicam timeline and
check ENABLE multicamera.
After my audio was renderd, the source monitor showed no clips and the
multicamera option was NOT available on the source side.
I double clicked on the imported Sequence 1 clip that's sitting on my
multicamera timeline. I was then able to see my quad monitor view in the source
monitor but when I try to select the different cameras it won't let me. Whether
I click on the different quadrants with a mouse or hit keyboard #s 1-4, it won't
record my edits.
Any ideas?
Did I miss a step somewhere?
