opening P PRO timeline in AE

When I go to file>adobe dynamic link>new ae comp

AE opens
but Premiere Pro reports the following error
"an unknown error occurred during the import operation"
and thats it
if i fo to AE there's nothing there.

If I already have AE opened
the project shows up as a linked comp
but when i double click it or drag it to the comp window
nothing happens

Anyone else experienced the same error?

I quote myself from a previous answer:
It seems to happen only when previewing through a firewire device in PPro and
AE. Disabling preview through a firewire device in either PPro or AE solves the
problem. A workaround is to disable the preview in PPro or AE prior to creating
a New After Effects Composition and then enable it after the link has been
imported into PPro.
