I am using Premiere 6.0 and have the opportunity to edit some straight forward
How To videos but the footage is all shot in 1080i. Need to know if 6.0 can
handle this format? All the footage was on Mini-DV tape.
Can someone let me know if 6.0 is appropriate for this format.

Steve...No Premiere 6.0 will not handle the HD format. I believe there use to be
a plug in for HD but cannot remember who had it or if it's still available.
Maybe someone else here can add more info on that or another plug in.

teechnically it depends on the codec - and sorry for jumping in late i haven't
been here for a long time. good to see the forum is still going strong...anyway
premiere can handle the format of the image. the problem is if the footage is
using the HDV codec or whatever it is...there was a company that made a codec
for 6.0 and 6.5, but once premiere pro came out they dropped it and focused on
pro. i made my decision too late when it was available, but it might be
somewhere on the net :)
ah i just figured something out - maybe - i'll try it myself when i get home,
but maybe if you can capture the footage even in HD. open it with quicktime pro
and then using QT pro convert the footage using a different codec so that you
can edit it in premiere
