Nick...You stated "When started it says there is no Firewire
connection". Is that when you open the "Capture" window in
Premiere? What is the other end of your firewire cable connected to, a camera?
What hardware is your computer using for the firewire connection, a video
capture card?

Al
No its as I enter Premiere's editing page ie timeline etc, and before anything
is brought into the project. Can cause Premiere to crash. Have alterative means
of capture so all I need is editing and export.
Have a clue as to what problem might be. MS offer an update to XP2
KB885222-v2-x86-ENU that enables more devices to use the Firewire than the
"standard" XP2 does. I think I have read in this Forum that others
have found Premiere 6.5 to work better with XP1 than with XP2.

Nick...Not that this solves your problem, just food for thought, but I run
Premiere 6.5 on XP2 with no problems at all, "knock on wood". I've
heard stories too that some do have problems but I wonder if SP2 is really the
problem. I am very cautious on updates though, for more reasons than just
Premiere.
