| How to create new MM font instances on Intel Macs? |

As a lover of both MM fonts and OS X, I have been able to create new instances
by running ATM Deluxe in Classic Mode, then copying the new instances into my OS
X Fonts folder. While I lament the lack of ongoing MM font support, this method
has worked well until now.
The problem is that my latest Mac is Intel-powered, which means that Classic
Mode goes away and I lose the only way I know of to create new instances of MM
fonts. The primary instances do work in OS X, of course, but they can't be
customized, which is the whole point.
Does anyone out there know if there's any way to customize MM fonts in OS X
without the aid of Classic apps like ATM Deluxe? Or must I hang onto my G4
powerbook until it croaks just for making MM instances?

I don't think the MM FAQ is terribly out of date because nothing has changes. I
don't know of any other new way to create MM instances. (Remember also that
Adobe stopped selling and supporting MM fonts years ago, now.)

Not much response on this topic! Am I the only one who loves MM fonts?
I decided to investigate the claim that Illustrator 10 (running under OS X)
could create new MM instances and Bingo! This works with MM fonts that are
installed in the following location:
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts/Reqrd/Base
