Apache 2.00.54 authenticate against MySQL database?

Apache 2.00.54 authenticate against MySQL database?

Can I get Apache 2.00.54 to authenticate against user names and passwords
stored in a MySQL database? Would I have to upgrade to Apache 2.2? If so,
how hard is this? What else would break?

I am running NetWare 6.5 SP5, some home-made Apache/PHP/MySQL applications,
GroupWise 7 WebAccess, iPrint, iFolder, iManager, NetStorage, etc.

I compile some mysql modules - however I've not used any of these for a
loooong time - so cant tell if they still work:

I downloaded mod_auth_cookie_mysql2_0.7-2.0.58-nw.zip - it seems to be
working great.

Thanks!
