I never did come across a fix for this, the user "just got used to it"
....
well...sort of. It was still there even when I switched to 2 acer 19"
widescreen DVI input LCDs.

Keith,

Your hardware setup is rather similar to the one I am having the same
problem with. It's a Dell T5400 workstation (quadcore intel) with a Quadro
NVS 290 PCI-E, driver 6.14.11.6255. a 22" dell lcd is hooked up to it.
(for
reference your specs: quadro NVS 280 PCI-E bios 4.34.20.79.08 driver
6.14.11.6250 7/13/2007.)

The cursor lags a little and flickers. Snap setting don't seem to influence
the lag & / flickering. Though the user did describe some sort of snap
anomaly, as in, the cursor appears to be snapping while snapping in AutoCAD
isn't turned on. That sounded to me as a 'resolution' problem of the mouse,
but I have not been able to duplicate that behaviour.

I've tried:
- Tools>Options>System tab
Current 3D Graphics display group GSHEIDI10 > properties Acceleration (tried

software vs hardware)
Just a single driver in the list with hardware selected: wopengl8.hdi
check & unchecked 'Use geometry acceleration (single precision)

Hard- vs software mode do act a little bit differently though; hardware mode
seems to be worse with more lag and more noticeable irregular flickering.
Software mode is a little snappier and flickers faster.

- WHIPTHREAD (0 through 3) flickering persist.
WHIPTHREAD 0 seems to improve the situation slightly when using software
mode.

- mouse driver (windows default & intellimouse 6.2)
No noticeable effect.

- USB vs PS/2 mouse
No noticeable effect.

- Dell default video driver vs nvidia's most recent one for the NVS 290
No noticeable effect.

- Various settings in the nvidia controle panel
(e.g. single-monitor perf. mode, multi-monitor perf. mode, compatibility
mode).
( vsync on vs off)
( various other settings)
No noticeable effect.

It would be nice to have autodesk confirms this buggy behaviour btw. I've
seen dozens of threads here (starting in 2000 till now), but no informative
answer or step by step pinpointing of the problem. If I've overlooked a
thread, do let me know, as I will gladly just fix it and let my users be
happy.

Feel free to reply here with the magic setting, AutoCAD env. variable or
secret spell I need to chant while performing dubious rituals.
