Hi, 

Try below steps;

1. Once you have copied the custom pattern files to C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Mechanical
2008\R17.1\enu\Support
2. Command hatch
3. In  the hatch dialog box-->Select "Custom" on the Type dropdown
4. Under "Custom pattern" click the button with ...
5. In the hatch pattern dialog box-->Custom tab-->Select the custom
hatch-->click OK
6. The custom hatch pattern will be loaded.
