Hello Tor,

Your post actually covers a few plus questions, plus a "how I want to do
it" statement instead of a "how do I do it?" question.

Regarding:

"I would like to set the correct scale by setting a dimension line between
two known walls in the building and enter the scale directly if possible."

That was covered in a recent post (although you wouldn't find it by the title)
at http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?threadID=646500

Regarding fitting on the paper, you're going to have to pick a scale that makes
your drawing small enough to fit on the paper. The easiest-to-explain way to do
that would be "trial-and-error", trying various scales. A more
complicated-to-explain way would be to look at the shape of your drawing and see
which direction (height or width) will first bump into the limits of the paper
as the drawing expands. Then put a dimension onto your total drawing in that
direction and divide that by the size of the usable area of th
