Physical data service based on Oracle synonym

I need to create a physical data service based on an Oracle synonym that
resolves to a view.  The synonym is defined in the schema that I use to connect
to the database.  However, it does not appear in the list of "tables and
views" when I attempt to create the data service. 

Can this be done?
