I live in a farming/watering community, and we were all sitting around one July
night pickin' crab and spinnin' yarns. We were complaining about the price of
gasoline, when my friend's father said that we were barking up the wrong tree.
You see, gas had gone from $1.00 a gallon to $3.00 a gallon over the course of
about 10 years around here, but WATERMELON had gone from $0.05 a pound to $0.32
a pound in the same amount of time.
Gasoline: 200% increase
Watermelon: 540% increase
Subscription costs:
Winzip costs 43% of original purchase price to keep up to date
Civil 3D costs between 13% (standalone) to approx 9% (network) over original
purchase price to keep up to date.
While I realize this is probably a terribly analogy, I have been looking for a
reason to tell that watermelon story for a year now.
