Moving CS2.1 Installation - Blogs is in DB but are not
recognized

I run a .NET Community called CoreSharp.net (Thai)... My old hosting just
expired and i have been trying to move Community server installation to new
host.

The problem is my backup is SQL2005 format but the new host is SQL2000 - so that
i was forced to use Export Data Command inside Management Studio to copy the
data. The copy was successful but some blogs are gone.

This is what i did:

Copy the entire folder structure from source server
make a backup of source database (which is 2005 format)
restore the database into my local SQL server
upload the entire folder structure into destination server and run the web
installer to create new community and schema - without creating community and
did not generate sample data
using export data command to copy data from my local server to destination
server

at this point, I try to run the CS2.1 installation - it said something like it
was not configured for this site...so i modified the web.config to use the new
MachineValidationKey/MachineDecryptionKey and the site started to work...

But it has got some serious problem:

Most of the blogs are gone...however, one blog managed to appear on the list
Some Forums does not belongs to any group and doesn't show up on Forum page -
but it shows up in control panel (with group column blank)
Same for Photos and Downloads...

any suggestions?

Hi,

Sorry but as you have found you simply cannot do this by copying the data in the
manner you have described.  We only recommend that databases are moved by a SQL
backup and restore.  I am fairly certain that you will not be able to restore a
2005 backup into a 2000 server.

Your simplest route which will guarantee success is to find a new host that will
allow you to restore your 2005 backup.

Thanks for your reply...but that's what the meaning of "easier said than
done" is  I have setup and paid for new server...i really have to use this
server.

However, one of the reason i choose to move to new host is because i can
successfully copy data (using same method) from host into my local sql server
and run CS2.1 locally. All blogs, forum, photo, downloads are moved
successfully. I simply do not understand why it doesn't work when i have got 1:1
copy of the data. (and it works in my PC!!!) [:'(]
