Consuming WebServices for Functional Implementation?

We are looking at adding the functionality of CS to existing pages. For
example, having a threaded discussion on an existing page in our website that
contains an article. What we were experimenting with was creating a WebSerivce
that could be consumed by the original site.

The original solution that is our current web site is using the 1.1 Framework
and is written in VB.Net. On a test server, I have set up our web site and the
SDK installation of the CS. I've added a couple of simple WebServices to the CS
Solution and it seems to be pretty straightforward.

Looking through the forums, I see plenty of reference to WebServices and was
wondering if this is a feasible approach to using the functionality that the SDK
provides, even if we aren't specifically looking at skinning the pages and using
a turnkey solution?

Thank you in advance,

Joseph
