My users are telling me that they are receiving permission errors when trying to
attach a file to a private message.
I don't see where this is a set permission. Can attachments be sent in original
posts of private messages?

Private messages are just forum posts so you must make sure you have attachement
enabled and that there role has permission to attach.
CS Control Panel > Administration > Forums > Global Forum Settings and
the Attachments Tab

Yes attachments are enabled in the Global Forum Settings. My users have no
problems attaching them to regular forum posts though.

Tim,
It looks like you can't attach to PM's after all, at least when I try I don't
get any error just it does not attach when I try?

Just a note on the subject, my users are telling me they are getting a "You
do not have permission to upload or link to files, Please contact your system
administrator" message when trying to attach.
