| *strange* - Brand New/Fresh Install of 2.1... |

but it seems that it takes about 10 seconds or so to load the initial CS
homepage for my site. Once it's loaded the reponse time seems ok, but after a
couple hours or so, it will resort back to initial 10 second loading of the
first page. (note that if anyone goes there now, you may not see the issue, but
then it'll be ok for a couple hours.) Here's the site:
http://www.xevtek.com/cs/web
I'm using 1and1 for hosting, and I know they are .NET compliant now, so we can
run CS on there since it supports ASP 2.0.
I'm curious about something though, could it be a CS setting in a .config file
somewhere, or could it be something related to the fact that the SQL server is
on a different server?
Thanks for the help.

I have noticed this with every CS site I have visited, including
www.communityserver.org. I assumed it was because the app on the server needed
to load but after it is loaded the respond time is good. Then after the app has
not been used for a while it unloads and waits for someone to hit the site and
then it loads again.
Anyway, thats what it seems to me like it is doing but I could be way off (and
probably am).
It would be nice if someone who really knows could answer this.

There is a setting in IIS that resets the application pool after 20 minutes of
inactivity. So you are correct, it will seem faster with continuous activity
vs. sporadic when this condition is met.

Thanks for the ideas...
Is there any way to modify this setting's performance through a change in a CS
config file while on a hosted solution?

I don't think so.
It's called something like "Session Time Out" in the asp.net tab of
the properties of you web site on the IIS server. If you don't have access to
the server, you don't have access to this setting.
