Outline problem on fonts

Outline problem on fonts
Thu, 5 Jul 2007 12:16:31 -0700
I have just changed from version 9 to version 11. When I open some of my old
documents, the outlines have long drips, what I would call glitches. I have
tried to convert the text to curves and the glitches still happen. It does
not happen on every font. Today I am working with *bubblegum* TTF and I
cannot put a clean outline around it.
I uploaded the service packs this morning and that did not help....
any input would be appreciated

This happens to a lot of fonts in Corel 11. I have found no solution to it.
Poorly built fonts or fonts with lots of nodes seem to be worse than others.
Corel 9 did not have this problem.
Most of the time it does not print it is just a screen issue but you can
never be to safe. I convert the outline to object and fix the the
drip/spike. It's a drag.

Thank you.
It's gonna be a pain for all the 1000s of old patterns I have! Ack!
Does anyone know if the newer versions fix this problem? Is it just version
11?

No, its not just V11. I just upgraded from V11 to X3, and some fonts are
still bad for that. For some reason, some nodes just create what I all
*spikes* or *jaggies*, and there doesn't seem to be anything you can do
about them, especially if the node is meant to keep a sharp corner.

If you don't really have to have a sharp outline with distinct pointy
corners, then changing the outline to rounded corners will fix the problem.

Other than that, your only option is to either try the Contour tool (it
sometimes works better - other times, the same *spikes* occur from the
renegade nodes), or convert your outline to an object, as previously
mentioned, and edit the nodes so that the *spikes* disappear. You're right
about one thing - - it is a major drag.
