I'm a long time user of CorelDraw (v11, now) but there is still a lot I
have to learn about it. The one tool that I would wish someone could
write a script or utility to implement is a divider tool.
Say I draw a curving line...maybe even a spiral. I often want to divide
that line into even sections...not break the line up, just make a
sequence of marks on that line at say, seven to the inch.
In real life I can do this by taking a draftsman's divider and setting
it to a specified distance and then pivot it along that line.
I'd like to be able to do that in CorelDraw. I envision a cursor or
tool with two points...position one point where you want to start and
then click with the right button, for instance, and a mark or point is
laid down with the other point.
Anyone know of such a tool already in CD11 or a third party utility that
will do this?
Thanks

it's possible to blend shapes such as lines evenly along a path:

Jeff,
Thank you. That helped--it's not as simple as I would wish but it works,
sort of. What I need now is some way to define the distance between the
points or hash marks.
Is there a way to do that?
And almost as importantly, I wonder if there is some way to show/derive
the length of a line...like a spiral?
Of course, if I knew the length of the spiral, I could space an x number
of marks along that line and know how far apart they were.
It's kind of clumsy...at least in my hands...but it's getting there.

The Curveworks set of utilities will give you the length of any line along
with a lot of other features.

Foster,
Thank you for that. I saw it some time ago but the only tool in that set
that I have need of or that I have ever thought "gee, that would be
nice" is the length tool. You would think corel would create something
similar as a built-in. Or someone would create a macro or plug-in.
And as for the divider tool...that was really my main concern...I need
to put "ticks" on an open path at specified intervals. The only way I
have been able to come close is to create a rather stylized drawing of a
divider with the points set at a specified distance apart (such as
one-ninth inch), and then sequentially rotate and position it along the
line, adding my ticks as I go--manually.
Seems like a tool such at that (with greater ease of use, of course)
would also be a "natural" for any drawing program.
[sigh]
