I don't have v11 on this machine, but in v12 - X4, you can do the following.
I would presume you could do it in 11 as well.
Convert your text to an object. Then take the Text tool and if you move the
cursor towards the edge of the object, you should see it change to either an
A with a tilde underneath it (you don't want that one) or a box with AB
inside it. You want that. Then click the object and you'll have a block of
Paragraph Text within the object - just type away.
